Dr. Masoud Babaei is the coordinator of EurocanPlatform project workpackage11 (WP11) in the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ). He started his career in the DKFZ as a Guest Scientist at the department of molecular genetic epidemiology in 2013. In the middle of 2014, he took over the coordination of WP11 which is responsible for clinical epidemiology and outcome research across European countries. His responsibility in the DKFZ is to support some international initiatives to link clinical registries with biorepositories, providing the basis for novel investigations of prognostic factors, clinicopathologic characteristics, and outcomes of cancer patients. In 2003 Dr. Babaei was Visiting Scientist at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC-WHO) in Lyon, France, where he trained on cancer epidemiology and its application in cancer registries. From 2003 to 2012, he was the director of Ardabil population based cancer registry in northwest of Iran. He was managing one the most successful regional cancer control programs in Iran with an extremely wide range of activities such as cancer prevention, early detection and palliative care.
