István Hritz, MD, PhD, is a consultant in gastroenterology at Bács-Kiskun Megyei University Teaching Hospital, Kecskemét, Hungary and a scientific group leader at the 1st Department of Medicine, University of Szeged.
He received his medical degree from the Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary and completed his Residency and Gastroenterology Fellowship at the 2nd Department of Medicine at Semmelweis University.
As an invited research fellow he spent several months at the Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Infectious Diseases, Otto-von-Guericke-University, Magdeburg, Germany and two and a half years as a post-doctoral research associate at the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology, University of Massachusetts, Medical School, Worcester, MA, USA.
Dr. Hritz received his PhD degree from the Semmelweis University and is board certified in gastroenterology as well as in internal medicine.
He is a board member of the Hungarian Society of Gastroenterology (MGT) and the president of the Association of Young Hungarian Gastroenterologists (FIGAMU).
His main interest is the gastrointestinal endoscopy, particularly therapeutic endoscopy. He has been selected as hands-on trainer in endoscopy by the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE).
Dr. Hritz is the coordinator of the Hungarian National Pancreas Registry and is a member of the patient management working group of the EU Pancreas – COST Action BM1204.
